Sunscreen Photostability
Most sunscreen agents lose their potency as they are exposed to light. They degrade as they absorb the sun. One of the best examples of this phenomenon is avobenzone, better known as Parsol® 1789 – the best UVA absorber in the United States. Sunscreen products with this important active ingredient must be carefully formulated to keep it photostable. Otherwise, the UVA protection disappears quickly when exposed to sunlight.
Gator Gubba Sunscreens are formulated by using advanced stabilizing technology that assures long lasting photostable UV protection.
Certain sunscreen agents react poorly together and their protection potency declines dramatically in the sun. An example of one such combination is octinoxate, a commonly used sunscreen agent, combined with Parsol® 1789. Gator Gubba Sunscreen Lotions do not use this combination.
